Things You Should Know When Looking for a Job...
The Difference Between W-2 and 1099
W-2's and 1099's are tax documents and the top two worker classifications in the US.

W-2 Employee - You are on the employer's payroll as an employee of their company. The employer withholds taxes from your paycheck and provides medical, dental, vision, and other benefits, typically. Pay is scheduled and often consistent.
vs.
1099 Contractor - You are self-employed, a business owner, or freelancer and a company hires you to complete a service or project in exchange for a fee. Once you receive your payment, you will have to set the taxes aside on your own. Benefits are not provided. Pay is based on completed jobs. Pay can be inconsistent, but usually fruitful.

What These Documents Are
Non-compete - Also referred to as a non-compete clause, is a legal contract that typically prevents you from working for competitors or becoming one yourself during and/or after your current job for a specific amount of time.

Direct Deposit Slip - A direct deposit slip is a form you fill out to give an employer permission to send your pay to your bank account electronically.

I-9 - An employment eligibility verification form used to verify your identity and your work authorization status.
Who They Are & What They Do

The person responsible for introducing the employer and informing you about the available job(s).
The person initiating the interview process, this is typically called "prescreening."
The person that can decide whether you are invited for an official interview, in some cases.
This person can be a Recruiter at the employer or a Recruiter from a 3rd party company partnering with the employer to fill the job opening.
Job Hunt Hack: Know what your needs, interests, boundaries, and questions are so you can effectively communicate them to Recruiters and potential employers.
Be respectful, be practical, be honest, be clear.
Hiring Manager(s)
The person or team that conducts your formal interview.
The person or team that decides whether you get the job.
The person that most likely opened the job in the first place, tighten up 😃.
Other Interviewers
Other superiors or potential team members in the organization that will contribute interview feedback affecting whether you get the job.
3rd Parties, Agencies
Companies hired by the main employer to help satisfy hiring goals. Therefore, sometimes the person calling you about the job doesn't work for the employer directly, they are working to fill the position for the employer. Having to work with a 3rd party is typical during the interview stage and background check stage of many hiring processes.
